What are Cognitive tools?

COGNITIVE LEARNING WAS THE PRECURSOR TO CONECTIVISM.

DEFINITION: Cognitive tools help learners with complex cognitive learning activities and critical thinking. These tools are learner controlled. They construct their knowledge themselves using the tools rather that memorizing knowledge.

The main theme of cognitive learning is that it is learner controlled.

Learning with technology not through technology.

David h. Jonasses's forum paper offers important information on congnitive learning: http://it.coe.uga.edu/itforum/paper1/paper1.html
